Can anyone explain just how this device works..

It is suppose to help you remove or install a mod. or remove a bad mod..

This is new to me and I'd like some leeway on how this works..

Oldcrow, the package parser works the same way as the one on the SMF modsite, only difference with that one you have to upload the package yourself to test it.  And it might not be as up to date as the official one.

If you go to the modsite, and choose a mod, example, https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=97

Look to the right hand side you'll see the parser.  In the dropdown box you can choose the version of SMF you are running, click parse and it will show you all the edits and to what files the mod makes when you install it.

Using this will enable you to manually install or un-install a mod should things go wrong at some point.

Hope this helps.
