Just a note.  Not sure but I'm betting most of those themes will need updating to run on SMF 2.0.14 and SMF 2.0.15 otherwise they will give you the dreaded session check error.  https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=553902.0

Ron, if the Stumpburner theme does not have that code it may revert to using the code in Curves. However, that is a really old theme and may need more code changes then just that.

I am looking over themes and checking them to make sure they will work on 2.0.15 When I get a few, I'm going to get rid of some of the old ones

Then you will have to add the code for the mods to them. You should always install the themes first so the mods will find them and install their code for you. You will not have to do it again later. ;)

Hmmmm I will have to find out how to do that. I don't know what mods I would have to uninstall to install the themes and then install the mods again

Currently, the only mod that is installed is the arcade. The problem is that you guys were not trying to install the latest version and trying to install an older version.

You should hold off installing any more mods until you get the themes sorted and installed. Then install the UPDATED mods. ;)

All the mod.'s are installed..

We'd have to remove all the skins, and mod.'s and start over again.. From what I seen installing the mod.'s there was only one (1) error and that error was in Sunset skin..

So there should be no problem running the large upgrade again or the fixit.php and pop the mod.'s out..

beast you installed some skins, and they will not work with your forum. These skins are outdated by many, many years, one is for smf 1.1.11

Beast when looking for SMF Theme Skins, make sure they are for 2.0.14 or 2.0.15 and are compatible with  2.0.14 and 2.0.15

Check for SMF Theme Skins here: https://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?action=search;version[]=91

You can aslo go to places like this, and some skins are free and some you have to pay for.  https://www.smfpacks.com/page/sa=themes

Why don't you just pick one nice theme skin, install it and make it your default skin..Most sites do it this way..To many skins make for a big headache..

Are the skins on the old Cripzone still good: https://www.jpr62.com/theme/index.php?action=forum

Most of the skins show 2013, I just cheeked the contents of one and it was 2011.. Are these compatible with amf 2.0.14 and smf 2.0.15

That is basically what I've been saying all of these years. You must keep your SMF, themes, and mods updated. No more than maybe 2 versions behind unless there are known security issues then you'll need to upgrade immediately! This is what hackers look for...people who use outdated software to exploit or those with known security flaws. It's very easy to to find sites that use such software.

All of the themes at CZ need to be updated. I am going to update them all for code for SMF 2.0.14...all 70+ themes! Of course, it will take some time and I'm not sure if there are any changes needed for SMF 2.0.15 yet. I've been busy updating SMF as well as the mods, etc. there. The demo site still works.

If you want a particular theme or two let me know and I'll update them, if possible. However, you may need to get new themes when SMF 2.1 arrives and I may or may not be able to upgrade them. Remember, I'm not a real coder although I do know some things.

I have been patently waiting about 5 years now for the release of smf 2.1, they keep saying when it's done.. I doubt it'll ever be done..

Maybe in 5 more years...after they finish patching 2.0.x. LOL Kind of hard to work on more than one version at a time.

SMF has no one left to make over these boards. All the good people have left, and refuse to help, something to do with whoever was put in charge..

There is a lot of things they could do to improve smf forums, a lot is missing that other forum templates take for default..I use to ask the support about different things, and always got a snide remark back, it's not needed. Best thing about SMF is it's very easy to work with..
Title: Re: 2.0.15 themes

Yup! The snide, arrogant remarks are uncalled for. Even if you don't like someone that is not how you give good support because everyone else sees it and will think that is how you will treat them. ;)

Iplay with a lot of other software, blogs, forums, cms, etc. and SMF is missing a lot of nice features. Sooner or later it will be left behind due to the lack of innovation and creativity.

Yes what you say is correct, take myBB, they have more default programs installed, and there staff is always coming up with a new update template..

Problem for me with myBB is you have to install all the mod.'s via FTP.. I do like IPB but it costs an arm and leg.. I have one license already for the old IPB version for the Arcade Forum

Someday smf will either be great or gone..

Thanks..

I usually have about 10 test sites with various software on them on my hosting. 1 -2 times per year I'll start over if they have a new version and play with them to see what's going on. This is what I do when I get bored or I help test software for them.

Just installed a myBB test site. Will go to the myBB board sign in and see what is available with the mod.s.

With all these test sites you have when do you find time to go to work to relax..

I downloaded a myBB test board, you still have to use the FTP to install the plugins. But there is a Plugin Installer, that you can install and then you can install plugins via the ACP

I opened the plugin and looked at it, looks somewhat complicated for me to install it..I am still not to keen on the FTP, on smf yes, but mybb is a little more complicated.

Here is the file:

Yes! You are right! I've forgotten about the installer. I haven't played with myBB for awhile. I planned on playing with it again but have been doing so many things with the hosting and getting new clients. I'm also teaching myself how to create and edit YouTube videos for hosting tutorials and my own personal videos I plan on doing later.

From the readme.txt file in the zip:

QuoteTo Install:
Upload ./inc/plugins/pluginuploader.php to ./inc/plugins/
Upload ./admin/modules/config/pluginuploader.php to ./admin/modules/config/
Upload ./inc/languages/english/admin/config_pluginuploader.lang.php to ./inc/languages/english/admin/
Upload ./admin/jscripts/pluginuploader.js to ./admin/jscripts/
Create folder 'temp' in ./inc/plugins/ and CHMOD to 777.
Upload ./inc/plugins/temp/test.php to ./inc/plugins/temp/
Go to ACP > Plugins > Install and Activate
Go to ACP > Configuration > Plugins > Upload Plugin

Afterwards you should be able to install via the ACP. :)

I did open it and read this, if I understand correctly, I would have to install each into where it says and then make a file, this is what confuses me. Do I make a file in ./inc/plugins/, this is what is confusing for me..

You do not have to create any files. You will find those folders and files in the zip file it says on the left. You must upload them to the folders it says  on the right.

QuoteUpload ./inc/plugins/pluginuploader.php to ./inc/plugins/

That means take the folders and that file: ./inc/plugins/pluginuploader.php

And upload it to this folder on the server: ./inc/plugins/

Basically, it say to upload the pluginuploader.php file from the zip on your hard drive to the /plugins folder on the server.

The following one is different: Create folder 'temp' in ./inc/plugins/ and CHMOD to 777.

It means you must create a folder called "temp" within the "/inc/plugins" folder and change the permissions of the "temp" folder to 777.

Hi Wyprzedaze and welcome to Docskillz!

Thanks for pointing that out. It is removed as they no longer seem to be in business. You can also get themes from the Crip Zone. They haven't been updated lately since the creator passed away a few years ago but still work without any problems. There's no real support for them but for SMF 2.0.15 they will still work well. :)

I do plan on updating them to smf 2.1 after it is released.

Gotta learn the differences between smf 2.0.15 and 2.1. The biggest problem is that 2.1 is not even in RC1 yet so there will most likely be a lot more changes. I've created a test site to play around with to help me get started. Also, I'm not the greatest coder. LOL

Thing is it's been at 100% a few times over the last few weeks, but keeps dropping back as other problems are reported which prevent it being released.  If it's a minor bug it'll get pushed to RC2, or Final.  The latest one really messed with our Tinyportal mod, they have completely rewritten the smiley handling, which meant we had to change ours.

I don't think RC1 will be too far away to be honest.
