Got a new lens Thursday for my Nikon D3000 DSLR. I asked for Amazon.com gift cards for Xmas and my b-day and got $50 for Xmas and $50 for b-day. :dancebun:
I asked for them in anticipation of getting a new lens come tax refund time and new that any amount would help my cause. riteon I originally was looking at a few cheapo's but ten decided that I would not be too happy with them and knew that they would also not have VR (vibration reduction to reduce camera shake) which usually adds about $200 to a lens. :o After mulling it over for a few weeks, I've decided on this one:

I ordered it Wednesday and got it on Thursday! :dancebun: I've also ordered a reflector which has not arrived yet:

The lens does not have special macro features so my next lens will be specifically just for that. The next thing I'll probably get will be a dedicated flash or a tripod.
The reflector arrived 2 days ago and works quite nicely. :) I'm going out tomorrow to take photos.
Fun part of my day was shooting a hawk I've been tracking that was about 10 feet outside my kitchen window with my new lens! I'm processing the pics now.

Thanks, but in all honesty, it was pretty close. It just about a foot or so from where the hawk was in the earlier photos.
