SMF 2.x Security and Moderation Settings - Anti-Spam

1.  Go to Admin -> Configuration -> Security and Moderation -> Anti-Spam.

Check:
Require verification on registration page - Normal bot usually cannot pass this verification check. More sophisticated bot may be able to do so.

Require verification on all guest searches - Check this if you allow guests to search your site. (Optional) Please be advised that not all guests are bots and may be your regular users just wanting information without logging in to your forum.

Guests must pass verification when making a post - Guests have to answer verification questions in order to post. Useful if guest are allowed to make posts. It is not recommended that guests are allowed to make posts but does help slow down spammers, etc.! Optional.

Guests must pass verification when reporting a post - Same as above but for guests reporting an undesirable post. Optional.

Uncheck:
None.

Other:
Post count under which users must pass verification to make a post - The number of posts that users must make to bypass verification questions.

Maximum number of recipients allowed in a personal message - Setting this to a low number can help prevent PM spamming.

Post count under which users must pass verification when sending personal messages - After the amount set, users do not need verification to send PM's.

Number of personal messages a user may send in an hour - Sets the amount of PM's a user is able to send within an hour. Will help stop mass spamming via PM.
